When we first began building the web design team had little direct contact with the museum staff and registrars so some design mistakes were initially made.

We liked the idea of using O’Keefe’s painting and playing the color in the header using video. Here is what we came up with:

When we shared the initial draft of the site with the museum there was immediately an issue. Treating an image in this way, though the image is in the museum’s collection, was against museum policy. It makes perfect sense, we replaced the header image with a still of the same, unchanged (except for a chop and image optimization) image.
